Book Meme

One of my friends in the blogsphere passed along this book meme. You find the book closest to you, flip open to page 158 and copy down the second sentence of the second paragraph. You're supposed to reflect on the sentence and how it pertains to your life right now.

This sounded like a bunch of malarkey until I tried it.

The book closest to me is If Disney Ran Your Hospital: 9 1/2 Things You Would Do Differently.

The sentence is: "We rarely accomplish anything without a dream, or great things without a vivid obsession."

There isn't a lot to say about this particular quote except that I COMPLETELY AGREE!

  1. "The album isn't terrible, and Queen maintained its superstar status internationally, but their American appeal was gone." -Jump the Shark (which means the precise moment when things go bad - terribly, irrevocably bad, as in when Fonzie jumped a shark on water skis in Happy Days.)

So that statement is about the band Queen, obviously, and their 'jump the shark' moment was when they released Radio Ga Ga on their 1984 album, The Works. Now, I've never heard that song, so clearly it sucked. And in my life right now....well, that doesn't relate. Maybe I should keep more intellectual books near me from now on. Or maybe I jumped the shark by buying a really cool car...later to realize that not only do I have to use premium gas in the car's turbo engine, but I get awful gas mileage. I guess I should have gotten a less attractive, more fuel efficient car and perhaps I should have checked the gas mileage and fuel requirements prior to signing on the dotted line. Hm...
