I'm Thankful For...
*A loving, merciful God.
*Faith that allows me to encounter Him.
*A most-supportive husband who encourages me to reach all my dreams (he's a great bra).
*Eight and a half years of marriage with him.
*My family who, despite their spotty understanding of my ambition and drive, chooses to love me and support me anyway.
*My health, which I will never again take for granted.
*Friends that, upon hearing about the stress I put on myself, talk me off the ledge.
*These same friends are available day and night and despite my sometimes inconsistent attention toward them, always write back right away. You guys are terrific.
*My neighbors who make my 'real home' a cozy and familiar place to return to.
*My career and this amazing fellowship during which I'm actually learning how to run a hospital.
*All my material "stuff," such as my two houses, my car, my wardrobe, my warm coats, my food, and the wherewithal to pay the gas bill.
*Chocolate.
*My education.
*Laughter, sarcasm, and good belly laughs that leave you sore the next day.
*My rent-a-dog, Sugar, who is always happy to see me (and kill me with her breath).
*My history of vacations...I've always believed in spending money on experiences, not stuff. These vacation memories help me through tough times and they've greatly increased my life experience, perceptions, and wisdom (yes, laying on distant beaches does that to a person).
*Chocolate.
*Pinot Grigio.
*Christmas trees that are full of storied ornaments.
*The time to sit and reflect on my blessings (okay, now back to work!)
Happy Thanksgiving. May it be a year-around sentiment.
i love how you name chocolate twice - it is a necessity, i would say. who would actually want to go without it? ;)
ReplyDeletelove your list. hopefully all of those things will help you make it through to the next thanksgiving - by then, you might just have a new position to be thankful for, too! :)
LOL, I actually meant to put "chocolate" as every other item. But I figured you guys wouldn't think that funny, only TRUE! Is it bad that I want to bite the ears off a chocolate bunny right now?!?
ReplyDeleteooh, a chocolate bunny sounds perfectly delicious! how is it that holiday chocolate always tastes better? ;)
