Paging Jim Cantore

Paging Jim Cantore! Jim Cantore! In case you don't have or watch the Weather Channel, you have no idea who Jim Cantore is. He's an ex-marine who forecasts the weather so well. He gets so excited about supercells and wind sheers; it's almost inspiring to watch him. Again, I digress!

I drove back to Chicagoland this evening and drove SMACK dab into a supercell. It's not good when you crane your neck up and see the clouds swirling above you. I called Jack and yelled, "Am I about to get lifted off into Kansas here? If I even see a witch riding her bike past my window, I'm outta here!" His response was, "Holy #*&$^@, yeah, you are in for it."

"Great! Thanks, Honey!"

It was great, though, because I actually had to pull over while the deluge swirled around me. Lightning struck so closely that I saw spots for a second afterward. That's the first time I've ever had to pull over. Jim Cantore would've been proud.

After the rain (isn't that a Nelson song from 1990?), I was treated by a very cool show in the sky. The first one is a double rainbow (kind of faint) and the second was NOT airbrushed. I kept looking at it, off in the distance, and thinking, "Is it 'V' for 'victory?' Or 'V' for 'Vendetta?"

In all seriousness, I think sunsets are a neat little taste of heaven. I just hope this one isn't God's way of saying 'V' for 'Vendetta!'

  1. That "V" is sooo cool! I would probably have crashed into the guardrail if it were me taking pictures of a good God-scape like that! I also think it's funny how a lot of your stories come from your hours on the interstate system!
