I was slated to fly down this weekend and have one day, one measley day of relaxation by the pool. Or at the outlet mall. Or anywhere Disney-related. I was set to pack one touristy outfit and was looking forward to the Florida trip so I could have one day off.
Sitting in a meeting on Thursday, I received a chain of emails from various people at Corporate, asking me to consider addition conference sessions. They were corporate VP's of quality and systems improvement, etc., who asked me to attend extra sessions. Honestly, I'm not sure they could all pick me out of a line-up. But how do you say no to opportunities like this? You don't.
So I signed up for the sessions, changed my flights, and then discovered I have 50+ pages of pre-work I have to read for the sessions. It's nice and exciting quality improvement literature from various accrediting bodies. I guess this means I don't get to read Dan Brown or (gasp) the next book in the Twilight series on the plane. Darnit!
And my only day off in the month of December has now been relegated to conference attendance. I'm not complaining (really), for I asked for this. I will be sure to take pictures of the neat-o resort pool and waterfall, so I can at least remember I was there for a few minutes!
Wish me luck on this conference gig!
