I have a slew of coffee-related quotes percolating for you. Another one of my favorites: "You might be drinking too much coffee if you sneeze with your eyes open" Or "You drink so much coffee that you named your dog Juan Valdez and your face is on a Colombian postage stamp."
It's sad, isn't it, when I'm resorting to coffee quotes in my quote journal? Usually, my first thought upon waking in the morning is, "What day is it and do I have to get up right now?" Well, I guess those are my first two thoughts. But lately, my first thought has been, "Must. Get. Coffee. NOW." Kudos to Jack for remembering to set the timer on the coffee pot this morning.
I'll admit that I've been burning the midnight oil, trying to complete all the seemingly endless coursework for school, job responsibilities at work, and vacation check-in activities. Yes, yes, vacation check-in activities are on my high priority list, lest I FORGET to do these things. Since we're cruising on this vacation, you have to do a certain amount of check-in before you reach the pier. Thank you, Department of Homeland Security! I've had a few nightmares recently, where I forget to check in, forget the pier of departure, miss the cruise, and end up cruising instead to Colombia because it's the only cruise that still has last-minute availability. Why did I cruise to Colombia in this particular dream? Probably for coffee.
Boy, I wish that joke was intended!
So anyway, it's been crazily busy, even more so than usual. The end of the semester always kills me. At Saint Mary's, I would subsist entirely on Diet Mt. Dew, granola bars, yogurt, and whoppers (the candy, not the burgers). Once, during finals week of my junior year, I actually built a pyramid out of Mt Dew cans. Of course, after finals ended and I allowed my body to sleep for more than 45 minutes at a time, I would have a tremendous caffeine withdrawal headache and usually caught a massive cold. It's funny how our bodies cope, isn't it? The moment that stress ends, our immune systems decide they've functioned long enough, and subsequently crash.
This time, it's not only the end of the semester, but the end of my job, the end of my routine home life, and the end of my normal marriage. I can only hope that when the stress begins to diminish, I don't crash too hard…lest I end up on that Colombian cruise!!!
For more "normal" people, stress brings on the sickness not the absence of stress :) I love your little coffee quotes so much that I wish that I drank coffee if only for the jokes!!!
