Oh, the capers.
But today? It feels like we're in Florida. Sitting on our Indianapolis patio, it's 72 and sunny, without a cloud in the sky on this February 20, 2016. This is awesome weather for early May, let alone mid-February. The breeze is blowing like at the Gulf shore and I *swear* I'm getting a slight sunburn. I had a sunburn in mid-March last year but this would be a first for a February sunburn.
Bring it.
Equally ironic to this amazing weather in February, I ran the Polar Bear 8k this morning. Well, we walked and ran it, my colleague and I. We are both preparing for the mini marathon in May. We watched the approaching forecast; first it was supposed to be in the 40's, then 50's, then 60's. We finished the race when it was 60 and by the time I got home, showered, went to the store, and drug out my lawn chair, it was 72.
Stay like, this, O'Indiana weather.
But the race went well. I have no idea what I have been so afraid of the last few years. Well, I guess it's been more like 13 years since my last race. Again, have no idea why. Jack reasons that I was so worried about school and my ever-changing jobs at work. But I feel GOOD when I run or even walk. I did 7.5 miles today and while my lower back hurts, I could do more.
Bring it.
Maybe we'll do another 5 miles tomorrrow. Gotta be ready to do 13.1 in May!
So as I sit here in the lovely sun, sort of baking in the sunshine, breeze blowing through my long-ish hair, with the Eagles on Pandora, we'll salut this summer afternoon in February. This beachy afternoon in Indianapolis.
A few weeks ago, Brady and his fiancée were over and we made a serious summer BBQ on a 60 degree day in late January. We're amping it up tonight...with the July 4 BBQ recreating (complete with deviled eggs and macaroni salad), cornhole with the neighbor's, and s'mores over a campfire in one of the neighbor's driveways. I'm sure winter will return soon but while we're in this sunny stretch of heavenly summer....BRING IT.
Bring it!
