I haven't had a whole lot to say in the past few days...mainly because I haven't been able to talk.I ran through a sore throat all week, thinking it would be good enough to fore go the gym and extracurricular activities after my conference. Sure, I got up at 4 a.m. all week, but I was in bed by 9 or 10 each night. Sure, it was emotionally-draining and life-changing, but I thought the coffee could get me through anything.
Anything EXCEPT bronchitis. Yep, my sinus infection morphed into a superbug from a prehistoric dino virus, one to which I must have had no immunity. I spent the weekend in bed, Jack whipped up a pot of soup, and I watched no less than five movies.
I did go in to work on Saturday morning, but that was so I could observe the surgical charting that takes place between Pre-op, Holding, and Intra-Op. I had to catch that nurse and learn on an off-day when there are few surgeries. As it was, there were only two, so I could learn the process. Then this morning, I got up at 3:45 a.m. so I could get to the hospital for 5:00, to start observation of surgical charting at 5:30. I had to catch six charts in two hours, but I obtained some great data. We are trying to justify that we will save $88,000 annually, just by eliminating some duplicative charting in surgery. If that one change will net us $80k, think of the savings inherent in other small changes?
Cha-ching!
So anyway, I've been trying not to stretch my vocal cords. When I do decide to insult the human beings within ear shot, I sound remarkably like an old, tired, man frog. Like a grumpy old male bullfrog. Except I don't have that gross bubble thing under my chin when I breathe. Who am I kidding?! That would assume I can breathe (which I cannot).
No bubbles here.
Despite my lingering bronchial nightmare, I'm in pretty good spirits. There has been some movement on the job front and a few offers have come my way. This is exciting, because I now know I will not be banished to the outer reaches of Nepal where I would have been forced to make snow cones in the Himalayas!
Sorry, Monsters Inc. was one of the movies I watched this weekend!
