I was in our weekly senior leadership meeting this morning and per our faith-based tradition, every meeting begins with a prayer. This morning, my 'EVOO' boss led prayer with one he randomly pulled from his laptop. It went something like this:"God, our heavenly Father,
Be with us and guide our hearts to know Your will,
Especially this Lent…"
He trailed off and the Catholics (who, albeit, were extremely hopped up on caffeine) looked at each other. One of the rambunctious guys exclaimed, "It's not Lent! What the heck? What did Rome do, extend the Lenten season? Great, so we have to atone and eat fried fish?!" So for the next few moments, we brainstormed other words for "Lent." We came up with "journey," "crazy Tuesday morning," "bar crawl," and "summer." We ended up amending the prayer to start:
"God, our heavenly Father,
Be with us and guide our hearts to know Your will,
Especially this journey on our crazy Tuesday morning in summer that will probably conclude with a bar crawl…"
And after that, all semblance of order was shot as we got the giggles. It was like we were kids, trying not to laugh in church when they said the words "naked" or "ass." I don't care who you are or how fancy your suit is, that stuff is still funny!
haha - both your entries today made me laugh out loud ... now go get some sleep, so you don't get caught again on camera! :D
ReplyDeleteSo did the bar crawl happen after the meeting or after work? Can I come next time? So does that mean when you have the case of the Tuesdays you can just say It's a lenten day?
